Driving through and wanted to do something different. Between the 6 of us we had everything from the wings to the chopped platter. Sides of potato salad, hush puppies, and hot chips. I had the sliced chicken sandwich with coleslaw and it had a ton of flavor. The Hot chips were not too thick or thin, and cooked perfectly. Everyone enjoyed their food and I would definitely visit here again. Be careful in the parking lot as it shares space with the car wash and gets crowded.
This is such an iconic restaurant! The food has remained some of the best BBQ, ribs, hush puppies, and slaw in Winston Salem, NC. The BBQ is Lexington style and they also have great burgers, hotdogs and fries. There are some employees that have been there for years and they are so wonderful. Please give it a try. I don't think you would be disappointed.
Ate here for my first time and it was great! Very retro dining experience! Metal ad signs from cigarettes and sodas from the 80’s and earlier! I had the coarse bbq tray w/ bbq slaw and hush puppies along w/ cheerwine!
When we go back home, we debate where we are going to eat but this one is always a must stop. Real Q - as they go by now, has been a staple in the Winston Salem community for as long as I have lived in NC. The prices are so good after all these years. The dip is perfect and the portions are so big! We love Real Q more than ANY OTHER NC BBQ spot. The que is smoky but not in a gross way like some others. It’s not overly fatty or charred. They balance it all out so well. It’s the best. We get large chopped trays with fries and hush puppies and don’t forget the cheerwine.
On a scale of 1-100, this Q is a 98! It is absolutely, positively wonderful, wonderful barbecue. Sweet and tender with a beautiful smokey taste..A top 5 Q spot in NC!
I have been there 2 times now. I've ordered the big bun rough chop BBQ sandwich. It's a hot mess of deliciousness. The BBQ is top notch and their sauce is drinkable. The big fail is the smallest thinnest napkins ever. Lol. I'll be back regardless
We came during lunch to get a to go order. We didn't order ahead bit our food was still ready in a flash. We got onion rings and hush puppies for our sides with Chopped BBQ sandwiches. As I am picky about slaw I elected to get mine on the side, to my surprise I liked it. The BBQ taste great without any sauce on it, very flavorful. However they do offer one signature sauce which is very thin and soaks into the sandwich instead of making a big mess like some. I would prefer to have a couple of options for BBQ sauce but theirs was still good. Our food tasted phenomenal and we recommend giving it a try. In addition to the great food, the service was fast and friendly. We will be back!
Delicious Pork BBQ. Pork was moist, hush puppies and fried okra were perfectly crisp on the outside and warm on the inside. Sweet tea was just right with it all. This was our first time having Lexington-style BBQ - it was great. Staff were very friendly and helped suggest some good things to try. Definitely be a place to try.
